(read about) The Notorious Cyber King - Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom

In the Wild, Wild West-era of digital media, there is no cowboy quite like Kim Dotcom. Part Sean Parker, part Kevin Mitnick, with a whiff of Notorious B.I.G., Dotcom embodies the most savage age of online piracy, having made a fortune on the edges of Internet freedom.

Dotcom, the megamind behind Megaupload, was arrested yesterday in New Zealand, his panic-room door busted down by officials, who found the hacker clinging to a sawed-off shotgun. Dotcom faces up to 55 years in prison if extradited to the U.S. and convicted on charges of racketeering, copyright infringement, and money laundering. The hacker-turned-multimillionaire businessman has been accused of costing the entertainment industry $500 million through pirated content uploaded to his popular file-sharing site, which boasted 180 million registered users and celebrity endorsements from Kanye West to Kim Kardashian.

Read on->

#AusVsInd first session predictions @Adelaide

#AusVsInd 4th test @ Adelaide is starting in less than an 1 hr. A flat dusty track presumably awaits, runs are assured and bat first strategy shall be the way to go for winning skips. So if, Australia bats first. Warner can dazzle, aided with Cowan’s assuredness can be a rigid combo to easily subside with. Marsh can be dodgy with his performance though Punter will be bold and composed after finally getting his century-ticker, moving up, in more than 2 years. So if Oz bats first. 2 down 80 odd is my guess.

Now if India bats firsts, I fancy another collapse. It may not be, but it can very well be, another collapse. Oz bowlers have been, no less sorcerers conjuring illusions and brewing potions for the God-level revered, batting line up. In their twilight, a dawning thought of never ever being able to win a series in Australia befalling them. Old age has caught up with them. 7 consecutive flops, in conditions dissimilar to one you have spend your lifetime playing on. Is a blaring indicator that that’s it guys. But then again, no tests for 6 months and then no test cricket outside sub-continent for another 1 and half year. Tendulkar can easily get more than 1000 runs by then. But, it is also true that Tendulkar has excelled, at least, statistically in foreign conditions during most of his career. But, a consistent array of away flops should not sit well with a maestro who has always been able to do one better than his last effort anywhere in the world. But, innately humans go first to salvage their pride than being so objective and critical of oneself. And this ego can only be fulfilled by staying put and playing at least till March’13 with 14 tests (INDIA won’t play with us, the pariah, Pakistan or it would have been 17) in between, including 8 at home with England and Australia. But, one will go and that would BE Laxman. (SRT=Ram can’t go first, right)

Oh, the first session. Yes, if india bat first, I see a collapse, no less than 3 for 60 odd, can be 4 too or can be more. Hilfy has been a revelation; I am really excited with his efforts in his second coming. I love it, when someone trumps after a true and hard self-realization of their shortfalls and possible way out. He swung early, bowled outside off un-threatingly for long periods and lacked zip. He NOW balls full so he swings late, is always on the cards with nagging lengths into the batsmen making him play and importantly drive more and has added a couple of extra yards in his pace. Moreover he is excellent against the tail, bowls short and into the ribs and chest, with short leg in. Accuracy in his shorter ones has brought him succession of wickets off the tail. His true test is in Adelaide, if he flattens the batters on a flat track he would get all his critiques flat on point. Siddle has also rejuvenated, Harris is a workhorse, I fancy him like ‘rajesh khanna’ in Anand or like jack Nicolson in ‘bucket list’ with a complete understanding of his imminent fate but still walking through life with a smile on face and hope in heart.

So that’s that off my first session prediction in #ausvsind 4th test @Adelaide.

"It does not matter how slow you go so long as you do not stop."

“It does not matter how slow you go so long as you do not stop.”

- Wisdom of Confucius, epitomized by Misbah’s Pakistan test team

The Genius We Don’t See by @karachikhatmal and my afterthoughts

The Genius We Don’t See by @karachikhatmal and my afterthoughts:

Ahmer Naqvi @karachikhatmal writes a breathtaking piece on Misbah-the phenomenon-. And credit to him for calling on Misbah-led tactical paradigm shift in test match approach, earlier on in the day, before Pakistan made its most deepest incision today on test crickets, decade n a bit old Waugh inspired, tactical shift.

Misbah’s approach other than for batters to spend more time on crease and value their wicket, is also to assist bowlers in building a choke over opponent batters, Eng was trotting along at a mere 2ish run rate, during most of the 2nd inns-also, in the last many inns misbah has preferred to bowl rather than bat first, decision guided by the theory that we are fundamentally more strong with our bowling. And even then he has turned the approach of having fast bowlers as the missiles of the team and spin bowlers merely run-stoppers at the other end, on its head- by using his spinners as the firepower in his well rounded bowling arsenal-be it the first day or the last.So yes, i agree, Misbah does have balls of Steal!

Although this strategy would be at constant battle with the aggressiveness of most of the other test playing nations that simply can’t revert to the old ways. I specifically remember A.B. Devilliers quoting just after South africa’s , Sa vs Aus-1st test 1st inns collapse on 96- “There is no way you can play slow in test cricket today” soon after follows Oz monumental collapse of 47.

My only fear is that if we are not able to create pressure on other teams with our bowling-then a first inns score of 400+ could completely eliminate our chances in the game, the fear still exists, and this paradigm shift may not work than. But then is then, and this huge victory is glorious in itself, let’s seep it through and bathe in its heavenly vanity.

It is very rare that leaders can attune their unit to a philosophy that breathes consistently with each and every member of its outfit. Hafiz is a natural stroke-player, even he has attuned his game to see more of the balls and thus face a higher percentage of bad balls that he can naturally put away. No doubt he can further improve but the sense of effort with each passing and most importantly learning from the mistakes is a key to success. There seem a realization within each player, of their skills and limitations, and each are utilizing it to add more value to the team.

I do wish inside, that misbah can complement adnan akmals masterful rearguard inns of 61, by bringing in umar akmal at 6. With his brothers oozing confidence and a most certain aroused hunger to do well after being kept away from tests, it can just be the right recipe into molding our most precious yet still a rough and uncut diamond, into pure magnificence. And what perfect timing it can be -to impose on England in the 2nd test and taking away the series- from the numero uno test side in the world.

We all know that when Facebook goes public this year Mark...

We all know that when Facebook goes public this year Mark Zuckerberg will become very, very rich ($25 billion for ‘em alone). Just the way i hoped for, as soon as Oz owned india at MCG.

Pattinson, the new OZ find, a bushranger, is immaculate in his approach to top order batsmen. Full and straight, full and straight, with an away swinging inclination his stock delivery. I can’t stop comparing him to steyn. The way these two premium bowlers release the ball and how it shapes up towards the batsmen is very identical.

India close the session at 72 for 4. with Patto getting 3 and the other bushranger, siddle gets dravid. Don’t forget scratchy sehwag was let off the hook by punter earlier in the inns.

India have been a disappointment in their away tours of england and now repeating the same kind of crappy performance in Oz as well. Three, even four defeats without a win in this tour seems in all likelihood to hold true. I so wish it does.

Gambhir, has mistakenly read all the batting tips and notes off hughes’s diaries, and have adopted ‘em rather too well. his pokes and nudges have only one way to go. In the cordon.

Sehwag was flashy as always. May be, he believes he resumes every new inns on 219*. Let off the hook by punter in 20s, playing and missing two odd deliveries in every over. His end was near. So it was, at thirty he gives a finer edge to Haddins big gloves, which was gleefully accepted.

Laxman has had a bad ‘11 for his liking and ‘12 does’nt seem to be going any better. May be the inns of a lifetime he churned thrice in ‘10 are days long past and maybe this could be hist last series in action.

Kohli, has played ten deliveries. looks confident with his feet moving fine. Does he follow the path of other tried and tested #6 for india or can he make a position for himself in an away tour. Mind you, this tour is the last indians will be playing AWAY for the next two years. Sad, it is but may be a blessing in disgiuse for all team india supporters who after every mini collapse start dreading the pre ganguly india with SRT and a sagging dying team of the rest of the 10. No hope, no courage, only pain.

Ganguly changed the attitude of india in tests. dhoni, as hoped, is not able to distill that character into the team. ganguly’s approach and aggressive attitude gave india a fighting spirit but the defensive tactics dhoni has been employing is a step in the medieval times. This would sap the killing instinct of indian players, which they have developed thru their limited overs achievements. Surely, i don’t mind that!

Tendulkar has looked in fine form, in all three inns in OZ. His feet are moving well, coming up to the ball and playing exquisite cover drives. Surely the 100th is happening in this test tour!

I don’t see India going past 250. Which sets a wonderful platform for OZ to get a 2-0 unassailable lead.

Pattinson, Siddle and Hilfy are wonderfully used by their wise captain Clarke. Who rotates ‘em well, keep the big guys fresh and attacks with heavy slip cordons and a plan. His batting form is a worry and sydney has been a disappointment so far in his career with an average of 28ish.

the PINK test starts with an amazing first session and a Patto fiver on the cards.

Month in Movies vol 2 -Dec 2011-

Month in Movies vol 2 -Dec 2011-:
I would recommend the first ten to everyone!
